MMCRU falls short of Unity

ORANGE CITY ó Class 2A No. 5 Unity Christian came away with a sweep of MMCRU in War Eagle Conference action on Monday. The Knights won by scores of 25-18, 25-15 and 25-17.

The Royals struggled on serve receive as they allowed 16 aces to their opponent in the match. Jori Bronner had five ace serves while Corrina Timmermans pitched in three. A total of eight different players recorded aces for the Knights.

MMCRU finished with four aces as Ellie Hilbrands and Faith Olson both had a pair.

Emily Dreckman led the Royals with four kills and was followed behind by Haley Schwarz who had the teamís best kill efficiency at .429 with three kills. Schwarz also led the team with eight digs.

Madison Treinen had six assists while Olson added four more. Hilbrands and Jaylen Bork led the team with two blocks apiece.

Unity Christian ended with a .220 kill efficiency as they matched their most attacking errors of the season with 19 which they also had in their season-opener against Akron-Westfield.

Timmermans led the Knights with 14 kills while Janie Schoonhoven added eight. The pair teamed up for the most blocks with three apiece.
