The Le Mars boys took second place as a team as Humboldt took the top spot with 67 points, beating the Bulldogs by eight. A total of 14 teams competed at the event.

“It was good to see some of the competition we will likely be running against at districts,” Le Mars boys cross country coach Al Engebretson said.

Landen Parmelee was the only Le Mars runner in the top 10 as he finished fourth with a time of 17:01.74.

Ethan Hulinsky raced to a time of 18:08.91 as he took 13th. Jason Sudtelgte was eight seconds off of that pace as he took 16th.

Blake Dirksen ended 20th with a time of 18:29.91 as he finished two spots in front of teammate Zach Wingert who ended in 18:36.17.

Cael Kass (27th, 18:54.45) and Jackson Sudtelgte (37th, 19:14.16) added places which were not counted towards the team total. All of the Bulldogs were well within the top half of the 97 total participants in the race.

“Very pleased with how consistent Landen has been in all five of our meets this season,” Engebretson said. “As a team we need to keep closing the gap between him and our numbers two through seven.”

Algona’s Trey Engen won the boys race in a time of 16:35.80.

The girls team ended third in the team standings behind Harlan and Spencer with 14 teams competing. The Lady Bulldogs claimed the final three in the top 10 with Chloe Calhoun, Kara Albrecht and Maddie Hurt finishing in order. Calhoun’s eighth place finish came in a time of 20:42.73. Albrecht was just three seconds behind while Hurt was 15 seconds off of Calhoun’s pace.

Sarah Meis took 14th place with a time of 21:20.92 while Paige Washburn rounded out the team score with a 35th place showing in a time of 22:54.13.

Bryce Gidel of Humboldt won the girls race in a time of 19:19.30.
