RSM volleyball takes two at triangular

MONDAMIN — Remsen St. Mary’s started the season with a pair of wins at a triangular hosted by West Harrison on Thursday, August 23.

The Hawks won a best-of-three set match in the maximum three sets against the host. After falling 25-23 in the first, the Hawks dominated the second set 25-9. RSM edged out a 15-13 win in the deciding set.

Miranda Loutsch led the way with eight kills and 20 digs in the match.

Carly Ortmann had five blocks to pace the team. Brooklyn Frederes and Emma Galles had four kills apiece.

Hailey Klein went 18-of-20 at the service line with six aces.

Sydney Schroeder played the setter role in the match with 13 assists.

The Hawks also defeated River Valley 2-0 with a 25-14, 25-16 final.

Brittany Johnson led the team with five kills and 20 digs. Ashley Willman and Loutsch both added four kills.

Megan Wurth played the setter spot with 20 assists.

Remsen St. Mary’s will take their 2-0 record on the road again as they face Hinton on Tuesday, August 28.
