Local softball players attend 8th Tri-State Fastpitch Senior Showcase

SIOUX CITY — Three Plymouth County softball players participated in the 8th Tri-State Fastpitch Senior Showcase held at Sioux City West High School on Tuesday, July 24. Those included Le Mars Community’s Christina Konz, Hinton’s Laura Brighton and MMCRU’s Megan Loutsch. Konz and Brighton were on Team White who played a pair of games against Loutsch and the rest of Team Blue.

Team White came away with a pair of victories at the showcase including in game two which saw Konz hit the walk-off winner with an RBI double in Team White’s 10-9 victory. Team White rallied for four runs in the bottom of the seventh to secure the win.

A five-run second inning sparked Team White’s win in game one as they added two in the fifth and held on for a 7-5 victory.

Brighton brought home a run with a bases loaded walk and later scored in the second inning. Konz went 2-for-3 with a single and double in the game.

Loutsch was part of the sixth inning rally for Team Blue as three runs came home in the frame. Loutsch hit an RBI single in the inning.

Megan Loutsch, MMCRU — Infielder earned 12 varsity letters in her high school career. A National Honor Society member will be studying education and playing softball at Briar Cliff. Coached by Kayla Foresman.
