Wolves and Hawks split games

LAKE PARK ó The Remsen St. Maryís baseball and softball teams split their set of games with Harris-Lake Park on Wednesday, May 30. The Hawks won the baseball game 10-0, while the Wolves earned a 6-2 win on the softball diamond.

RSM scored five runs in the second inning and didnít look back from there in a six inning win. Blaine Harpenau started off the inning getting hit by a pitch on a full count. Skyler Waldschmitt and Spencer Schorg followed with singles as Schorg got the first RBI of the game.

Brody Ricke drove in a run with a sacrifice fly and a Marcus Konopasek single made it 3-0. Konopasek scored on an error off the bat of Derrick Schorg as he came around to score after another error and a balk by the pitcher.

Mitchell Schiltz led the team with a pair of hits and also reached on a walk as he had the teamís only extra-base hit with a double.

Derrick Schorg, David Grady and Harpenau split pitching duties with two innings of work apiece. Combined they allowed just two hits and struck out six with Harpenau getting four of those Ks.

The softball game saw RSM strike first as Hailey Klein drove in Lexi Harpenau on a single in the top of the first, but the team couldnít score again until the final inning after the Wolves had already scored six runs.

Doubles from Morgan Bradley and Jazmin Voehl were part of a three-run bottom of the first that put the Wolves in front for good.

Harpenau scored both of the runs for RSM as she had three of the teamís nine hits. Veda Pick added a pair of hits including a double.

Emma Galles took the loss as she gave up 12 hits and three walks while striking out four.
