South O’Brien and MMCRU softball double scores late in Wolverine win
CLEGHORN — With South O’Brien leading 9-2 entering the seventh inning, both teams doubled their scores in the final frame for an 18-4 final score in a full-length game on Tuesday, May 29.
The Wolverines jumped out to a big lead early with a six-run second and tacked on individual runs the next three innings before their large outburst late. Anna Friedrichsen did a bit of everything for South O’Brien with three hits and runs scored, a walk, two steals and 2 RBI. She also hit a home run in the win.
MMCRU scored lone runs in the second and third before tacking on a pair in their last at-bat. Haley Schwarz and Megan Loutsch led the team out of the heart of the lineup with a pair of hits apiece and an RBI. Schwarz had a double for one of the team’s two extra-base hits. Molly Reuter added a double in a 2-for-2 night at the plate.
Emily Dreckman took the loss after allowing all six runs in the second inning on three hits and walks. Caitlyn Evans finished the game and was stuck with 12 runs, eight of which were earned after allowing 13 hits.
