SLOAN — Members of the MMCRU girls track and field team took part in the 2018 Rebel Relays hosted by Westwood on Friday. The Royals did not start their top performers in all events, but focused on a few specific events in preparation for the upcoming state qualifying meet on Thursday.

Aspen Woodall took second place in the 800 meter race out of a field of 15 participants. She finished in 2:38.52, a season-best time as she shaved four seconds off her War Eagle Conference winning time. Lauren Rowher of Alta-Aurelia won the race in 2:34.89.

Kaitlyn Goth finished in third place in the 1500 race with a time of 5:35.27. Madison Schiernbeck of OA-BCIG won the race in 5:18.69. Goth did not run in the 3000 at the meet.

Turner was sixth with a throw of 32-07 while Loutsch was 10th at 30-10.50. Loutsch finished 11th of 30 in the discus with a throw of 77-03. Turner, the reigning War Eagle discus champion, did not compete in the event.

The team competed in just a pair of relays, focusing on the longer distance ones. In the 4x800, the Royals clocked a time of 10:46.0. That time is nearly 20 seconds faster than their previous best time this season. Combining on the race were Faith Olson, Woodall, Goth and Bork. The team ended in second place behind Alta-Aurelia’s 10:29.8 finish.
