LE MARS — The first of six apartment buildings that will make up the Choicewood Park Apartment complex, 646 11th St. S.W., is complete and ready to welcome its new residents.

The completion of the first phase of the $7.5 million project will be celebrated with an open house event Friday, March 16-Sunday, March 18.

“It feels great to have the first complex completed,” said Brad Galles, Choicewood Park co-developer. “The building experience has been wonderful thanks to Vision Builders and we are ready for the next steps with renting. We feel we have beautiful, economical units that we hope people will enjoy living in.”

When completely built out the development will add 72 housing units to the Le Mars community.

Galles, along with his brothers, Barry, Nick and Ryan, and their father, Randy, saw the need for housing in Le Mars and decided to do their part to help meet that need.

“We recognized the need for affordable rental units in Le Mars and wanted to be a part of the solution to have more people move to this community,” Galles said.

“We have had many inquiries from Le Mars and surrounding communities,” Galles said. “We have more applicants than units available, and will finalize the acceptance process during and after the open house so everyone has a chance to see them before accepting.”

The open house will feature public tours of the units, give interested parties the opportunity to apply for housing, finalize the approval process for those who have already applied, and offer an assortment of snacks and beverages.

Galles said the first building will be completely finished on March 15, with the second building scheduled to be complete in June. Depending on demand, building three and garages will start this fall. Future plans are to have six buildings total with 40 garages.

The open house will be held from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Friday, March 16, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., Saturday, March 17 and noon to 4 p.m., Sunday, March 18.
