2018 Pork Producer royalty crowned
PLYMOUTH CO. — Three young ladies in Plymouth County have been selected to represent the Plymouth County Pork Producers at various events throughout 2018 at this year’s annual banquet.
More than 230 members came together on Saturday, Feb. 17 to celebrate 2017, enjoy an evening of entertainment and watch the crowning of the new Pork Queen and Little Miss Pigtails.
Isabelle Kessenich of Kingsley was named the 2018 Pork Queen. She is the daughter of Chris and Dawn Kessenich and has been around swine her whole life. Kessenich is involved in color guard, Christian Leadership Team, dance team, studio dance, 4-H, and is a member of the Plymouth County 4-H Foundation Board.
The two youth crowned Little Miss Pigtails 2018 were Breeana Sheehan and Allyana Walrod. Eight-year-old Sheehan is the daughter of Neil and Krystal Sheehan of Remsen. Walrod, sevenyears old, is the daughter of Bobby and Christy Walrod of Akron.
Entertainment for the evening featured Chef Kang Kuan of Tyson Foods.
Kuan received his bachelor of science degree in Social Science from the University of California Riverside. He is a graduate of The Culinary Institute of America, and is currently enrolled in the Food Science program at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign.
He was trained at French Laundry, one of the top kitchens in the United States, serving as a sous chef for chef owner, Thomas Keller, Corey Lee, and Tim Hollingsworth.
Before joining Tyson Foods, he was the executive chef for Iron Chef Morimoto in Napa, California and has appeared on Iron Chef America as Chef Morimoto’s sous chef in the Holiday Tailgate battle.
Kuan last served as the Executive Research and Development Chef for Tyson Foods before transitioning into his current role as Culinary Ninja at Tyson Innovation Lab.
At the recent banquet, Kuan served the appetizers of sticky ribs and gave a presentation which included information about new innovative cuts that Tyson is exploring to add value. Paul Connor of Tyson Foods assisted Kuan with the presentation.
