MMCRU/RSM splits bowling matches with Sioux Central/Spencer
SIOUX RAPIDS — The MMCRU/RSM bowling teams split a pair of matches on Thursday, February 1, with Sioux Central/Spencer. The girls won by a sizable margin while the boys lost by a razor thin amount.
The girls won by a final score of 2,141-1,701 as they built up a nearly 300 point lead after the individual rounds and then had better scores in all five of the Baker games.
Hailey Klein had the top score of the day with a 404 as she rolled identical 202 games. Megan Wurth added a 342 series score as the only other score above 300 for either team. Bailey Penning was third on the team with a 286 as her score was 10 better than the best from Sioux Central/Spencer.
Britney Specht and Victoria Kollbaum rounded out the counting scores with a 214 and 210, respectively.
The boys team fell just short with the final difference being just 19 points as Sioux Central/Spencer won 2,465-2,446. The deficit was even larger after the first round of the individual games, but MMCRU/RSM did their best to fight back in the Bakers, outscoring their opponent 806-738 in those five games.
Ethan Riedemann had the top score for the visitors with a 369. That score matched the second-best Sioux Central/Spencer series, but was below the overall best score of the day which was a 396.
Cam Miller had a consistent set of scores with games of 175 and 174 totaling a 349. Jake Anderson was just nine back of that total as he had the best game score for the team with a 196.
Drew Pierce and Mitch Rhodes rounded out the counting scores for the team with a 295 and 289, respectively.
MMCRU/RSM will bowl at Le Mars on Monday, February 5, for the final tuneup before the state qualifying meet.
