Royals lose at South O’ Brien
The MMCRU girls basketball team traveled to South O’ Brien on January 30. The Royals came into the game ready, but ended up losing with a final score of 50-27.
The first half was really rough for MMCRU. The Wolverines jumped off to an early 20 point lead, ending the first quarter 22-2. The Royals managed to shrink the Wolverines lead to 19 points, ending the first half 26-7.
MMCRU came into the second half ready to play. The Royals came out of the first half and shrinked the Wolverines lead to 11 points, ending the third quarter 31-20. South O’ Brien was able to keep their lead and extend it to 23 points, ending the game 50-27.
Madison Treinen lead MMCRU with three field goals, three three pointers, and nine points. Aliyah Jackson and Haley Schwarz helped the Royals by making two two pointers each for four and five points respectively. Aspen Woodall and Molly Reuter lead MMCRU with two free throws each. The two highest scorers for the Wolverines were Hannah Dau with 16 points and Kaylee Jacobs with 13 points.
South O’ Brien was able to make a total of 18 field goals, compared to MMCRU’s nine. The Wolverines managed to make 12 two pointers, while the Royals made six. South O’ Brien was able to make a total of six three pointers, as opposed to MMCRU’s three. The Wolverines managed to make eight free throws, while the Royals made six.
