Unity Christian too much for MMCRU to handle

ORANGE CITY — Unity Christian picked up a pair of War Eagle Conference wins on Friday night, Jan. 5, over MMCRU.

The girls game saw the Knights win their eighth consecutive game after starting the season 0-2. Unity beat the Royals 60-34.

Aliyah Jackson led MMCRU in scoring with nine points as she connected on a pair of 3-pointers. She added six rebounds along with a pair of steals and assists.

Haley Schwarz came down with 10 boards and scored eight points while also leading the team with three steals.

Gretchen Ruba and Megan Loutsch each ended with six points, with Loutsch’s points coming on a pair of 3-pointers.

The ranked Unity boys team came away with a 71-35 victory over the Royals.

Chris Schmid was the lone player in double figures for MMCRU as he finished with 11 points and made a pair of threes. Schmid also led the team with four steals.

Zack Bonnstetter scored eight points and brought down five rebounds.

Andrew Prescott ended with six points as he was a perfect 4-for-4 from the charity stripe.

Hunter Tentinger paced the team with eight rebounds, but was held to just three points after a 1-of-9 shooting performance.

MMCRU will try to reverse their fortunes when they travel to play Trinity Christian on Tuesday, Jan. 9.
