Royals earn first win, complete sweep of CC-E
REMSEN — The MMCRU boys basketball team won its first game of the season on Tuesday, December 19, by taking down another winless team in Clay Central-Everly by a final score of 64-58.
The Royals jumped out to a 26-7 lead after a quarter and were able to hold on for the win after the Mavericks pulled back into the game in the second half.
Chris Schmid led the Royals in scoring with 23 points. He also had seven rebounds and three steals.
Hunter Tentinger added a double-double with 20 points and 12 rebounds. He also blocked three shots.
Andrew Prescott and Zack Bonnstetter each ended with nine points. Prescott added five rebounds and three steals while Bonstetter concluded with eight rebounds and two assists.
The MMCRU girls won 53-31 over CC-E.
Aliyah Jackson’s 13 points were best on the team. Haley Schwarz added a double-double with 12 points and 11 rebounds. She also had a team-high seven steals.
Megan Loutsch hit a pair of 3-pointers to end with six points while Gretchen Ruba and Faith Olson each scored five.
