HARTLEY — MMCRU came away with a tight one-point victory over Hartley-Melvin-Sanborn on Tuesday, December 12, winning 45-44. The Royals have now won two straight after beating Remsen St. Mary’s last Friday, December 8, 58-27.
Megan Loutsch was clicking from outside in the game as she ended with 15 points as all of her points came from her five 3-pointers made. She added two steals for the Royals.
Haley Schwarz also ended with 15 points as she connected on a pair of 3-pointers. She led the team with seven rebounds.
Gretchen Ruba finished with seven points with a 3-pointer and a perfect 4-for-4 night at the free-throw line. She added a pair of rebounds and assists.
Aliyah Jackson dished out a team-best five assists while scoring six points and stealing three balls.
Faith Olson led the way with five steals and added three assists and a basket.
HMS had seniors Olivia Japenga and Erin Streit each end with 13 points to lead the Hawks.
The Royals will look to avenge their earlier season loss to Gehlen Catholic as they host the Jays on Friday, December 15.
REMSEN — Class 2A No. 5 West Sioux had no problems against Remsen St. Mary’s on Tuesday, December 12, beating the Hawks 59-16.
Sydney Schorg scored half of the team’s points with a pair of 3-pointers and another basket and led the team with seven rebounds.
Carly Ortmann, Lexi Harpenau, Emma Galles and Sydney Schroeder each scored two points to finish out the scoring for the Hawks.
The undefeated Falcons got 15 points from Emma Mace and a dozen from Abbie Ericson.
