Hawks split against Harris-Lake Park
LAKE PARK ó Remsen St. Maryís split with Harris-Lake Park on Friday as the boys team came home with a win and the girls team fell to the Wolves.
The Hawks pulled away in the second half of the boys game after holding a five point lead at halftime. RSM won by 20 with a 53-33 final score.
Spencer Schorg led the team in scoring for back-to-back games as he ended with 18 points. He connected on four of the teamís five 3-point makes in the game. Along with his scoring, he also had six rebounds and three assists.
Brody Ricke had five steals, over half of the teamís total as he scored 12 points in the game.
Nicholas Ruden ended with 11 points and eight rebounds for the Hawks.
RSM stays perfect on the season with a 7-0 record following the win.
The St. Maryís girls continued their struggles on the season, scoring a season-low 15 points in a 48-15 loss to the Wolves. RSM, still winless on the season through eight games, faced a scoreless first quarter for the second straight game, this time finding themselves in a 28-0 deficit after the first eight minutes.
The team broke out for nine points in the second quarter, but added just six points after halftime.
The team picked up six points at the free-throw line where they had their best shooting percentage, but struggled from everywhere else. The Hawks shot just 12 percent from the floor and went just 1-for-16 from beyond the arc.
Olivia Schroeder hit the lone trey for the team as she scored a team-best five points.
Emma Galles came off the bench to finish with four points.
The Wolves, who have won two straight after starting the season 0-5, got 18 points from Madison Brevik, 13 from Rachel Martin and another 10 from Taylor Meyer.
Remsen St. Maryís is back in action on Tuesday as they host Akron-Westfield.
