The Gehlen Catholic football team finished with an 8-3 overall record in 2017 and 5-2 record in district play. The Jays secured a wild card bid to the playoffs where they went on the road to knock off No. 2 Southwest Valley 34-14. The following week in the state quarterfinals, Gehlen fell to Council Bluffs St. Albert 31-10. The team was led by Head Coach Jeremy Schindler and assistant coaches Paul Ellensohn, Cole Heissel and Erv Whitehead.
