RSM falls in overtime
HULL — Trinity Christian eked out a 46-43 victory over Remsen St. Mary’s on Tuesday, Nov. 21 in overtime. The Hawks trailed for much of the night, but climbed back in the second half after trailing by six at halftime. By the end of the third the deficit was cut in half and the Hawks tied the game and forced an overtime period.
“It was a game that saw us down early, but fought back,” RSM Head Coach Scott Willman said. “We gained one of our only leads with just under a minute to go in regulation before they hit a deep 2-pointer to tie late.”
A team with little returning experience relied on lone senior Sydney Schorg for 11 points as she was a perfect 8-for-8 at the free-throw line. Unfortunately, she fouled out in the middle of the fourth quarter.
The team played 11 girls with five of them freshmen. Nine of the players scored in the game.
Lexi Harpenau added nine points and Kelsey Behrens scored six.
Alyssa Uittenbogaard led Trinity with 16 points.
RSM (0-1) returns to action on Tuesday, Nov. 28 as they host Clay Central-Everly.
