Girls run at Cherokee Tomahawk Relays
The MMCRU girls' track and field team participated in the Tomahawk Relays in Cherokee on April 7. The Royals placed seventh overall at the meet. Their team placement might not have been great, but some individuals improved their times and distances from the last track meet.
In the 100 Meter Dash, Emily Moser (14.53) placed 6th. In the 200 Meter Dash, Aspen Woodall (29.43) placed 10th. In the 800 Meter Run, Faith Olson (2:48.47) placed 5th, and Leah Henderson (3:19.86) placed 18th. Running the 1500 Meter Run, Kaylee Colling (6:12.34) placed 7th, and Kaitlyn Goth (6:23.81) placed 10th.
In the 100 Meter Hurdles, Gretchen Ruba (20.41) placed 15th, and Shana Ames (20.43) placed 16th. The 400 Meter Hurdles, Asiah Jackson (1:13.95) placed 4th, and Shana Ames (1:26.97) placed 14th. In the 4x100 Meter Shuttle Hurdle Relay, the Royals (1:21.38) placed 6th.
In the 4x100 Meter Relay, the Royals (1:00.83) placed 9th. Running the 4x200 Meter Relay, the Royals (1:57.46) placed 4th. In the 4x400 Relay, MMCRU (4:25.17) placed 3rd. The 4x800 Meter Relay, the Royals (11:08.78) placed 2nd. In the 800 Sprint Medley, MMCRU (2:00.36) placed 4th. In the 1600 Distance Medley (5:16.32) the Royals placed 7th.
In the Shot Put, Peyton Turner (31-01.50) placed 4th, and Megan Loutsch (30-05.50) placed 7th. In the Discus Throw, Peyton Turner (104-01) placed 4th with a career best.
Aspen Woodall, had this to say, "We all had good times and got great PRs. We also pushed ourselves while going against tough competition."
Head coach Lonnie Boekhout added, we competed very well against lots of tough 2A competition. I we keep improving every night out, we'll make some noise in conference and districts.
