Girls' Track opens outdoor season at Marcus

The MMCRU girls' track and field team did great at the meet in Marcus on April 3.. The Royals came in 3rd with 100 points overall. They came in behind KPWC with 190 points and Akron-Westfield with 113 points.

In the 100 Meter Dash, Leilani Meade (15.73) placed 7th, and Leah Henderson (16.01) placed 8th. In the 200 Meter Dash, Emily Moser (29.07) placed 1st, and Aspen Woodall (29.61) placed 2nd. In the 400 Meter Dash, Nicole Specht (1:20.38) placed 4th, and Hannah Jochims (1:28.37) placed 5th. In the 800 Meter Run, Faith Olson (2:59.67) placed 6th, and , Madison Trienen (3:01.55) placed 7th. Running the 1500 Meter Run, Aliyah Jackson (6:00.01) placed 2nd, and Kaylee Colling (6:09.75) placed 3rd. In the 3000 Meter Run, Kaitlyn Goth, (13:30.11) placed 1st.

In the 100 Meter Hurdles, Shana Ames (20.03) placed 7th, and Gretchen Ruba (20.71) placed 8th. The 400 Meter Hurdles, Asiah Jackson (1:17.59) placed 1st, and Gretchen Ruba (1:26.35) placed 7th. In the 4x100 Meter Shuttle Hurdle Relay, the Royals (1:19.24) placed 3rd.

In the 4x100 Meter Relay, the Royals (59.66) placed 4th. The 4x200 Meter Relay, the Royals (1:57.24) placed 2nd. The 4x800 Meter Relay, the Royals (11:21.78) placed 2nd. In the 800 Sprint Medley, the Royals (2:03.71) placed 3rd. In the Distance Medley (5:09.78) the Royals placed 3rd.

In the Shot Put, Peyton Turner (31-01.00) placed 5th, and Megan Loutsch (28-10.00) placed 7th. In the Discus Throw, Megan Loutsch (81-07) placed 6th, and Peyton Turner (78-07) placed 7th.

Lonnie Boekhout, head coach for the girls' track team, had this to say, "It was really good to get outside on our home track for some high level competition. The three gold medals for Emily in the 200, Asiah in the 400 hurdles, and Kaitlyn in the 3000, for her first high school medal, were highlights. We've set a benchmark for most of our events and now it's our goal to exceed that every night out."
