Remsen St. Mary's hits track at Clay Central-Everly meet

SPENCER -- The Remsen St. Mary's track and field teams competed on Friday, April 7 at a meet hosted by Clay Central-Everly. According to Head Coach Scott Willman it was a successful meet for the team.

The girls picked up one first place win as the shuttle hurdle team of Veda Pick, Paige Willman, Emma Galles and Miranda Loutsch combined for a 1:17.00 time.

Galles added a second place finish in the 1500 meters with a time of 5:29.

"Emma looked very smooth and pressed the lead in her first outdoor run in this event," Willman said.

Olivia Schroeder picked up second place in the 3000, ending in a time of 15:23.

Paige Willman placed third in the 100 hurdles in a time of 17.7 seconds.

The sprint medley team also finished in third as Willman, Loutsch, Galles and Hailey Klein ended in 2:12.

Carter Kuchel and recent transfer Canaan Cox dominated the sprints at the meet. In the 100, the pair each clocked in right around 12.05 while in the 200 the two ended in 23.95 and 24.00. Each ran in a different heat.

"Canaan is new to track and field and finding his sprinter legs on the oval," Willman said. "He comes to St. Mary's from North Carolina where he had a prolific junior season in football."

Shay Galles improved his times in each the 1600 and 3200 meter races to clock times of 5:10 and 10:54. David Grady was third in the 3200 with a time of 11:35.

The 4x100 team of Cox, Kuchel along with Noah and Colin Schroeder took second place with a time of 48.00 seconds.

Brady Homan took third in the discus with a spin of 98-00 feet.

The 4x200 and sprint medley teams each clocked similar times and places. Colin and Noah Schroeder teamed up with Brett Galles and Mitchell Schiltz in the 4x200 for a time of 1:46 while Noah Schroeder, Brett Galles, Kenny Bohnenkamp and Jacob Loutsch ran a 1:48 in the sprint medley.

All times are unofficial times from Head Coach Scott Willman as official results from Clay Central-Everly had not been released.

The teams will next race at Hinton after Easter.
