Hinton girls have strong outing, beat RSM

REMSEN -- The Hinton and Remsen St. Mary's girls golf teams hit the course Monday afternoon, April 3, with Hinton getting the better of the matchup.

The Lady Blackhawks posted the four lowest scores in the match.

Mackenzie Grenko led the way, shooting a 49 over nine holes. Lauren Kipp followed with a 52, Alyssa Rosenbaum with a 54, and Bri Vaught rounded out the top four shooting a 56, leading the team to a score of 211 on the afternoon.

Catherine Russell led the way for RSM, shooting a 58, followed by Haley Delperdang, who shot a 62.

Megan Wurth and Kaylee Galles rounded out RSM's top four, shooting a 65 and a 66, respectively, leaving the team at 251.

"This was our opening meet of the season," RSM Head Coach Sue Klein said. "I was very pleased with the way the girls played tonight. They were very consistent."

Shelbie Young shot a 61 for the Lady Blackhawks while Claire Kipp shot a 63.

Rounding out RSM's team were golfers Mallory Behrens, who shot a 68 on the afternoon, and Brooklyn Fedders, who finished with a 69.

RSM will be back in Remsen on Thursday, April 6 against Gehlen Catholic.

Team Scores: Hinton 211, Remsen St. Mary's 251.

Individual Scores: Medalist -- Mackenzie Grenko, Hinton 49.

Runner-up -- Lauren Kipp, Hinton 52.
