PLYMOUTH CO. -- Plymouth County residents as well as the Siouxland area will soon have a new venue to host their special occasions.

Country Celebrations Event Center, 5606 Hamilton Blvd., is currently being constructed on the south edge of Plymouth County. It will be where the former Country Drive Driving Range was located.

The 12,700-square-foot facility will have a rustic barn feel and is designed based on stables, said Kathy Ellison, co-owner.

"You feel the warmth of the soft pine wood inside and out," Ellison said.

Owned and constructed by Kathy and her husband Todd, the venue is designed to host weddings, family reunions, business meetings and parties.

"A friend of ours kind planted the seed when she suggested building a venue like this a few years back," Kathy said. "There is a need for it in our area. When our son got married we were like 'wow, we need to do this.' When our daughter got married in 2009 it wasn't you pick the date you want, it was you pick what date was available."

When guests visit the location, they will be welcomed by a large stone fireplace, exposed trusses that frame the entire ceiling, a waterfall that sits directly behind the head table, and one side of the room dedicated for the event's catered food and a full service bar.

For weddings, the bride and groom will have individual rooms to prepare for their big day in privacy, in addition, the venue will feature a children's playroom.

As guests step outside on the patio they will be met with scenic landscaping, fire pits and water features.

"It's going to be very picturesque," Kathy said. "The fact that we're out in the country with nothing around us. I think that's what's going to set us a part from everybody else."

Kathy said the venue will hold up to 500 people.

The venue will be operated by the Ellison's entire family including their two children and their spouses.

"We're all going to do whatever we need to do. It's going to be a family adventure," Kathy said.

While the family will take the lead, Kathy said they will look at hiring a crew of approximately 10 part-time employees.

"With being family owned and operated we will treat your family like it's are own," said Erica Antrim, Kathy's daughter. "This is truly a family friendly facility with a children's playroom. The outdoor ceremony and back patio is one of a kind to the Siouxland area with being surrounded by trees and gorgeous landscaping."

Country Celebrations Event Center management and booking will be handled by Kathy Ellison, Kelsey Ellison and Erica Antrim.

The event center is currently booking events for after the Fourth of July weekend.
