Robert Edward Kneip was born on Nov. 1, 1938, in Le Mars, to Nick and Dorothy (Kunkel) Kneip. He attended grade school at Oyens, and later graduated from Remsen St. Mary's High School in 1955.
On Nov. 17, 1962, Bob and Ruth Roling were united in marriage at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Remsen. They made their home in Oyens for a few years prior to moving to Le Mars.
Bob's entire career revolved around the feed business. In his early years, he owned and operated a Purina Feed Store in Le Mars. He later merged with Supersweet Feeds and worked in sales until his retirement.
Bob was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Le Mars and served the church in many capacities. He was a past Grand Knight with the Knights of Columbus and was a 4th degree Knight.
He will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 50 years, Ruth Kneip, of Le Mars; two sons and their children Rick and Mary Kneip, Conor, Colton, Carson and Caden, of Le Mars, and Ron and Angela Kneip, Dylan and Dustan, of Le Mars; brothers, Gerald Kneip, of Le Mars, and Dick and Joyce Kneip, of Oyens; a sister, Cindy and Delbert Berkenpas, of Le Mars; sisters-in-law, Sally and Kenny Kneip, of Le Mars, Diane and Bob Ames, of Omaha, Neb., Connie and Harold Pronga, of Waukon; a brother-in-law, Fred and Mary Kay Roling of Remsen; and a sister-in-law, RoseMary and Rich Braun, of Omaha, Neb.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents; mother and father-in-law, Lawrence and Mildred Roling; a brother and a sister-in-law, Loren and Mary Kneip; a sister Donna Mae Kneip; a sister-in-law Loree Kneip; and niece Linda Kneip.
Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Le Mars. The Rev. Kevin Richter will preside in the Celebration Mass. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery in Le Mars. Visitation will begin at 4 p.m. Wednesday at the Bob Kneip Family Gym (Gehlen Catholic School) in Le Mars with a scriptural prayer service at 7 p.m. There will also be one hour of visitation at the church prior to Mass on Thursday.
