Nominees sought for LCS Teacher of Year award

Monday, January 28, 2013

Nominations are being accepted for the "Teacher of the Year" award at Le Mars Community Schools.

The Le Mars Community School District (LCSD) Foundation and LCSD Alumni Association jointly sponsor and select a teacher of the year to represent the many great teachers who exemplify the school district and its educational goals, according to a press release.

The award, called the Decades of Excellence Crystal Bell Award, was created to recognize and honor teachers who demonstrate excellence in education by meeting the needs of the students.

In addition to a crystal bell, two $500 awards are given to the winner, $500 for personal use and $500 for classroom use.

Students, parents of students, fellow teachers, administrators and community citizens may submit nominations.

Nominations may be jointly submitted by more than one nominator.

Anyone wishing to nominate a teacher for the award may pick up nomination materials at the superintendent's office at 940 Lincoln St. S.W., or any of the principals' offices at the elementary, middle school and high schools, or on the district's website, www.lemars.k12.ia.us.

Applications must be submitted by Friday, March 8.

Anyone with questions may contact the superintendent's office at 546-4155.
