A-W grapplers win duals over West Sioux, A-H

HAWARDEN -- The Westerner matmen outwrestled West Sioux 49-24 and were also victorious in their dual with Alcester-Hudson on Tuesday.

Akron-Westfield 49, West Sioux 24

Four pins, a major decision win, and a decision win led to a Westerners' over the Falcons.

A-W matmen Daniel Dirks (138), Cole Oltmans (145), Taylor James (182), and Chet Willer (195) pinned their West Sioux opponents.

It took Dirks 0:45 to pin his opponent Adrian Topete. Oltmans accomplished the same against Josue Arreola in 0:35. James had Austin Hultquist pinned after 1:30, and Willer was victorious over Ricardo Rodriguez after 1:15.

Dylan Blinde (152) earned a 13-3 major decision win over Antonio Pleitez. Tommy Toben (120) won by a 14-7 decision over Alex Montes.

A-W took forfeit wins at 160, 170 and 220.

Westerner grappler Michael Siebens (113) lost by pin with Jose Montes after 3:02.

West Sioux also took three forfeit wins: 126, 132 and 285.

The 106 class was a double forfeit.

Akron-Westfield 54, Alcester-Hudson 18

Three pins over Alcester-Hudson helped the A-W grapplers to their second win of the day.

Toben, Dirks and Oltmans pinned their opponents.

Toben had Domenick Wilson pinned after 0:26. Dirks accomplished this after 0:13 over Cash Hemmingsen. Oltmans won by pin over Colin Walth after 1:56.

A-W took forfeit wins at 152, 160, 170, 182, 195 and 220.

Westerner matman Siebens fell short against Connor Sogn by pin after 1:46.

Alcester-Hudson took forfeit wins at 106 and 285.

The 126 and 132 classes were double forfeits.
