ORANGE CITY -- The Hinton girls overcame a first-quarter deficit to claim a 54-49 win over Unity Christian last Friday.
Unity (9-4) took the early lead, heading into the second quarter 14-12 with the Blackhawks trailing by two.
Hinton turned it into a Blackhawk lead with a 14-point second quarter, holding onto a one-point edge at halftime, with the score 26-25, Hinton.
The Blackhawks stretched their lead with a crucial 13-8 third quarter, widening the gap to six points.
The score going into the final period showed Hinton leading 39-33.
The Knights outscored Hinton by one in the fourth quarter, putting up 16 points to the Blackhawks' 15, but Hinton held onto their lead for a win.
Hinton junior Shaeler Lund led Blackhawk scoring with 22 points, and junior Lauren Hedlund was also in double figures with 11 points for the Blackhawks.
Unity sophomore Kassidy De Jong also scored 22 points for the night, and Knight freshman Chandra Zomermaand scored 15 points.
Hinton senior Sadie Shuck led in rebounds with eight.
Juniors Alex Yoerger and Lund added five assists for the night, and both Yoerger and senior Breana Bollmeyer had two steals. Shuck made four blocked shots against the Knights.
With the win, Hinton continues a nine-game winning streak and improves the Blackhawk record to 10-1 overall.
