A-W grapplers take sixth at Rock Valley

ROCK VALLEY -- Four first place finishes led the Westerners to sixth place overall at the Rock Valley Tournament Saturday.

Boyden-Hull/Rock Valley took first at their own tourney with 199 points.

Akron-Westfield tallied 107 points for the day, just one point behind the fifth place team, Worthington.

Leading A-W with first place wins were Tommy Toben (120), Daniel Dirks (138) Cole Oltmans (145) and Chet Willer (195).

Toben went 3-0 for the day, pinning Ryan Bolster, of Okoboji, in 3:05. He won by 9-5 decision over Maxwell Klarenbeek, RV/BH; and he won by 9-2 decision over Efrain Anzua, of MOC-Floyd Valley.

Dirks went 2-0 at the tourney, earning a 12-1 major decision over Augustin Jimenez, of West Sioux, and pinning Vince Riley, of Worthington, in 0:39.

Oltmans went 3-0 Saturday. He pinned Joe Weaver, of Sioux Falls Lincoln, in 3:08; won by 7-1 decision over Zach De Jager, of Western Christian/Unity Christian; and earned a 6-0 decision over Seth Hoogendoorn, of RV/BH.

Willer went 3-0 at Rock Valley, earning three pins for the day.

He pinned David Doty, of MOC-Floyd Valley, in 1:01; Jacob Sauter, of Okoboji, in 3:10; and Ty Koldenhoven, of RV/BH, in 1:51.

Dylan Blinde (152) finished fourth in the tournament, going 1-2 for the day.

He won by 8-4 decision over Joey Mills, of Worthington, but fell by pin to his other two opponents.

Trevor Hansen (220) took a fifth place finish for A-W, going 0-1 for the day, falling by 9-7 decision to Roberto Araizen, of Marcus-Meriden-Cleghorn.

Jacob Bergman (160) wrestled for the Westerners but did not place. He went 0-2 for the day, losing by pin to both his opponents.
