Cecelia Rose Witt was born Sept. 5, 1937, the daughter of Joseph and Eveline (Mills) Witt. Ceil as she was known to family and friends graduated from St. Frances De Sales High School in St. Louis with the Class of 1955. Ceil worked as a flight attendant with Ozark Airlines from 1959 to 1961.
She was united in marriage to Virgil Borchers on March 3, 1961, at St. Peter Lutheran Church in Brunsville. Ceil and Virgil were blessed with four children: Michael, Debra, Kevin, and Donna.
She always had a passion for travel, and in 1985 she continued this passion working as a travel agent until her retirement in 2005.
Ceil and Virgil had the opportunity to travel throughout the world as a travel agent. They both enjoyed having the "auction bug" attending sales around the area. Ceil also enjoyed schnauzers through the years. After Virgil died on April 29, 2006, Skipper was her constant companion.
She was a longtime member of St. Peter Lutheran Church in Brunsville where she enjoyed helping to decorate the church and volunteered as needed. Ceil was very community minded, her neighbors and friends in Brunsville were her extended family.
Survivors include her children: a son, Michael Borchers and his wife, Sandra, of Tomah, Wis., and their children Dawn Woods and her family Erica, Patrick, and Rachel, Brian Borchers and his wife, Alicia, and their son Steven, and Nicole Borchers, a son Kevin Borchers and his wife, Keri, of Le Mars and their children Logan Robbins and Colan Borchers, a daughter, Donna Morehead and her husband, Mark, of Merrill, Iowa and their children Mitchell, Benjamin, and Karson; and a brother-in-law, Richard Borchers and his wife Jane of Wayzata, Minn.; a nephew John Borchers and his wife Christina; and a niece Sarah Borchers and her husband Brian Kingsley.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Eveline (Mills) Witt; her husband Virgil on April 29, 2006; a daughter, Debra Borchers; and a grandson, Alex Morehead.
Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. Peter Lutheran Church in Brunsville, with the Rev. Ben Worley officiating. Inurnment will be at St. Peter Lutheran Cemetery. Visitation with the family present will be after 5 p.m. Tuesday at the Carlsen Funeral Home in Le Mars followed by a 7 p.m. prayer service.
Honorary casket bearers will be her six grandchildren: Brian Borchers, Logan Robbins, Colan Borchers, Mitchell Morehead, Benjamin Morehead, and Karson Morehead.
