Hawks fall to Unity boys

REMSEN --The Remsen St. Mary's boys couldn't topple Unity Christian (6-6) in a conference matchup at home last Friday.

The Knights took the War Eagle win 67-41.

Unity built an eight-point lead coming out of the first quarter, with the score 24-16.

RSM scored eight in the second quarter to the Knights' 12 points to make it 36-24, Unity, at halftime.

The Knights outscored the Hawks by 10 in the third quarter, going into the final period 53-31.

The Hawks put up 10 more points before the final buzzer, and Unity scored 14 more for the win.

"We played all right," RSM boys coach Scott Ruden said. "Unity is a little bit quicker and a little bit taller than us. We didn't get shots to drop, but we played decently well."

For RSM, senior Tyler Delperdang led scoring with 13 points.

Junior Matt Wesselmann added nine for the Hawks, and sophomore Elliot Conover scored eight.

Defensively, senior Nate Roder led with give rebounds and two steals.

Junior Andrew Pottebaum had two blocked shots for the night.

RSM next matches up with the Remsen-Union boys for War Eagle Conference play this Friday at the Rockets' court.
