Bulldog bowlers take first at home

LE MARS -- The Le Mars boys and girls bowling teams swept a home meet with Marcus-Meriden-Cleghorn/Remsen-Union and Sergeant Bluff-Luton Monday.

The Bulldog boys bowled team score of 2730 at Sweet 16 Lanes, nearly 200 points ahead of runner up SB-L, who scored 2553 for the day. In third place, MMC/RU tallied a 2256 team score.

The LCS girls also ousted second place SB-L by nearly 200 points. The Bulldog team score was 2382 while SB-L bowled 2107 for the day. In third, the MMC/RU girls bowled a 1861 team score.

Brock Hofland led for the LCS boys with a 449 series, bowling games of 183 and 266, the team's high game.

Dom Castle added a 408 series, bowling games of 213 and 195 for LCS.

Tyler Pottebaum rolled a 329 series with games of 136 and 193, Jacob Beyer bowled a 305 series with games of 146 and 159, Matt Hystad rolled a 292 series with games of 128 and 164, and Gabe Jensen had the non-counting series of 218 with games of 112 and 106.

In the Baker round, LCS tallied 947 more points for the win.

For the Bulldog girls, Caitlin Hughes led with a 334 series, bowling games of 148 and 185.

Mickey Lucken followed with a 329 series, bowling games of 162 and 167.

Jennifer Cook-Howard added a 323 series, rolling games of 149 and 174; Danielle Hystad had a 318 series with games of 189 (the team's high game) and 129; Susie Haack rolled a 284 series with games of 140 and 144; and Katie Pope had the non-counting series of 277 with games of 143 and 134.

In the Baker rotation, the LCS girls tallied 794 to complete their win over SB-L and MMC/RU.

In the JV round, the LCS Boys No. 1 team won with 2240 points, edging SB-L's JV at 2060. The LCS Girls JV No. 1 team also claimed the win over SB-L. The Bulldogs scored 2010 to SB-L's 1679.
