Michael J. 'Mike' Roder
Michael J. "Mike" Roder, 60, of Sioux City, died Saturday, Dec. 29, 2012, at Touchstone Living Center in Sioux City.
Mike was born on Sept. 23, 1952, the son of Jerome "Jerry" and Pauline "Peg" (Frank) Roder at Le Mars. Mike was raised on a farm near Remsen and attended St. Mary's Catholic School in Remsen, graduating from St. Mary's High School in 1970.
He then worked for Pete Feller Sales.
He also did various other jobs and spent many years on road and street construction in the Siouxland area. His last job was at Advance Brands in Orange City.
He entered Touchstone Living Center on Nov. 5, 2012.
He enjoyed camping, fishing, hunting and watching the moon and stars.
Survivors include: his mother, Peg; three sisters, Susan (Fred) Brown, Gerianne (George) Olson, Janice (Steve) Green, all of Sioux City; three brothers, Nick Roder, of Sioux City, Steve (Sandy) Roder, of Remsen, and Dan (Judy) Roder, of Sioux City; and 15 nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father, Jerry, his twin brother, Pat, brother, David, brother-in-law, Tom Klein, and grandparents, Nick and Millie Frank.
Memorial service will be at 11 a.m., Thursday at Fisch Funeral Home & Monument in Remsen with Deacon Rick Roder officiating. Burial will be in the St. Mary's Cemetery in Remsen. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until service time Thursday, all at Fisch Funeral Home & Monument in Remsen.
