Odd/even parking followed in snow emergency

Monday, December 24, 2012

In case of inclement weather this week, residents and visitors are reminded of the city of Le Mars' odd and even parking requirements.

Vehicles need to be parked on the odd-numbered side of the street on odd calendar days and the even-numbered side of the street on even calendar days.

After 6 p.m., people should park their vehicles for the following calendar day.

As an example, on an odd-numbered calendar day, after 6 p.m. vehicles should be parked on the even-numbered side of the street or avenue.

Tickets may be issued to those who violate the odd and even parking requirements when a snow emergency has been declared.

If public works staff makes a request, vehicles parked in downtown areas after 2 a.m. will be towed.

Signs are posted in the downtown areas where parking restrictions are in place after 2 a.m.

Snow emergencies will be posted on the Daily Sentinel's website www.lemarssentinel.com, published in the newspaper, announced on KLEM 1410 AM and 96.9 FM Radio, the local cable access channel, Sioux City television stations and through the NIXLE neighborhood information system.

Registration for NIXLE is free and may be completed through the Le Mars Police portion of the www.lemarsiowa.com website.
