GRANVILLE -- The Remsen-Union boys came from behind with a huge third quarter to take a 70-56 win away from Spalding Catholic Friday.
Spalding took the early lead and held it at halftime, leading 19-14 after the first quarter and 37-31 at the half.
The Rockets got fired up coming out of the break, scoring 24 points against Spalding and holding the Spartans to only five for the third quarter. Going into the fourth quarter, the score was 55-42.
The Spartans couldn't recover from the third-quarter blow. R-U outscored Spalding 15-14 in the final stanza to keep control of the ballgame.
R-U junior Tanner Hilbrands and senior Cam Kuchel were sharp Friday, scoring 21 and 20 points, respectively.
Junior Nick Braun had a double-double night with 11 points and 11 rebounds for the Rockets.
Senior Andrew Hagrt added six rebounds and four blocks.
Hilbrands also had seven assists for the night and Kuchel made four steals.
The win improves R-U's record to 5-1 for the season.
