Holiday happenings in Le Mars

Music by school students and a second weekend of activities at Pioneer Village Christmas Wonderland are part of the Christmas holiday schedule this week in the Le Mars area.

Activities include:

Tuesday, Dec. 4

* "The Museum Manger" display at the Plymouth County Historical Museum open 1-5 p.m Tuesday through Sunday, in the 1905 Study Hall on the museum's fourth floor, featuring Nativity scenes. Admission is free; donations welcome, elevator access to all five floors of the museum, located at 335 First Ave. S.W., Le Mars.

Wednesday, Dec. 5

* Evening showing of "The Museum Manger" display at the Plymouth County Historical Museum, 5-8 p.m. in the 1905 Study Hall on the museum's fourth floor, featuring Nativity scenes. Admission is free; donations welcome, elevator access to all five floors of the museum, located at 335 First Ave. S.W., Le Mars.

Thursday, Dec. 6

* Christmas Vespers Service by Gehlen Catholic's 7-12 Vocal Music Department, 7 p.m. at the new St. Joseph Church, Le Mars. Journey through music to the light that came with Christ on that "O Holy Night in Bethlehem," featuring music by the Gehlen Catholic Junior High Choir, High School Concert Choir, and Triple Trio. The Rev. Kevin Richter will preside. The Rev. Paul Eisele will be the guest conductor. Free and open to the public.

* Le Mars Community Middle School Holiday Concert, 7:30 p.m. in the middle school auditorium. Performances by the middle school jazz band, 7-8 select choir, 7-8 treble ensemble, 6 chamber choir, percussion ensemble, woodwind ensemble, string ensemble, and brass ensemble under the direction of Mary Kay Benton, Nancy Ewing, and Ted Hallberg. No admission charge, but a freewill donation taken for Christian Needs Center. Bring a non-perishable food item or a new winter hat, scarf or mittens.

Saturday, Dec. 8

* Pioneer Village Christmas Wonderland open, 5:30-8:30 p.m. at the Plymouth County Fairgrounds, 500 Fourth Ave. N.E., Le Mars. Century Hall features entertainment, refreshments, and decorated Christmas trees; Round Barn with Christmas decorations and scenes; horse-drawn wagon rides; visit with Santa Claus; stuffed toys given away at the Toy Store. Admission is free; donations are accepted.

Sunday, Dec. 9

* Pioneer Village Christmas Wonderland, final night, 5:30-8:30 p.m. at the Plymouth County Fairgrounds. Century Hall features entertainment, refreshments, and decorated Christmas trees; Round Barn with Christmas decorations and scenes; horse-drawn wagon rides; visit with Santa Claus; stuffed toys given away at the Toy Store. Admission is free; donations are accepted.
