Jay Small, a Hinton eighth grader, will return to the Metrodome in Minneapolis to compete in the NFL's Punt, Pass, and Kick competition.
This is Small's fourth trip to the Vikings Team Championship.
Small has claimed two Team Championships, in 2009 and in 2011.
He qualified for the National PPK finals in 2009 in San Diego, finishing second overall in the 10-11 age division.
The Vikings Team Championship will take place at Mall of America Field on Dec. 9 prior to the Vikings-Bears game.
The NFL PPK Series consists of four levels of competition.
Small won the local competition at Sergeant Bluff in mid- September.
The local win qualified him for the regional competition which was held in Onawa on Oct. 14.
Small had a banner day, amassing a total of 461 feet (53-yard punt, 54-yard pass, and 47-yard kick). His total would have won the 14-15 year old division at the National Championship last year where Yankton, South Dakota native Brady Hale won with a distance of 436 feet and 8 inchdes.
The Vikings Region covers the states of Minnesota, Iowa, North Dakota, and South Dakota.
There are four regional qualifiers for boys and girls in five age groups (6-7 year olds, 8-9 year olds, 10-11 year olds, 12-13 year olds, 14-15 year olds).
Each NFL team holds its own Team Championship, and 32 Team Champions will be crowned between Nov. 11 and Dec. 16.
The top four will be invited to the National PPK Championship at a site yet to be determined.
