John Anthony, 54, of Le Mars, died unexpectedly Monday, Nov. 12, 2012, at Mercy Medical Center in Sioux City, from injuries sustained in a truck accident.

John Charles Anthony was born June 15, 1958, in Le Mars, the son of Donald and Helen (Frerichs) Anthony. He was baptized at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Le Mars and later confirmed at St. James Catholic Church.

He attended school in Le Mars and graduated from Le Mars Community High School in 1976. During his high school years, he began working for Wells' Dairy in Le Mars. Following high school, he attended Western Iowa Tech Community College in Sioux City where he received his truck driving training.

For the past 30 years, he has worked as driver for Wells' Dairy in Le Mars.

He was united in marriage to Deb Campbell Aug. 4, 1979, at St. James Catholic Church in Le Mars. To this union, three children were born, Steven, Amy, and Heidi.

John was an active member of St. James Catholic Church in Le Mars, having served on Pastoral Council and as a lector and Eucharistic minister.

He enjoyed being an amazing coach to his kids in Little League softball and was an avid fan of the Kansas City Chiefs. He also enjoyed traveling and boating.

John will be remembered for his positive attitude, for his continuous giving without expectations of reciprocation, for his incredible integrity, dignity, and virtues, and for his ability to build and fix just about anything.

Above all, John deeply loved the times he spent with his family, especially his children and grandchildren. He is the ultimate husband, dad, and Grandpa Rarr and will be so greatly missed.

Survivors include his wife, Deb, of Le Mars; his children: Steven (Taylor) Anthony, of Crofton, Neb., Amy (Alex) Reyes, of Sioux Falls, S.D., and their children, Eva, Julia, Frankie, and Anthony, and Heidi Anthony, of Le Mars; his mother, Helen Anthony, of Le Mars; his siblings: Judy (Bill) Mathews, of Tulsa, Okla., Jean (Ron) Counter, of Sioux City, Jim (Nancy) Anthony, of Creston, Julie (Armand) Orban, of Deming, N.M., and Jeff (Denise) Anthony, of New Ulm, Minn.; his father-in-law, Leonard Campbell, of Le Mars; his in-laws: Ken (Lois) Campbell, of Sioux Falls, S.D., Donna (Dan) Utesch, of Akron, and Bill (Lori) Campbell, of Le Mars; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father, Donald Anthony; his sister, Joan Rolling; and his mother-in-law, Laura Campbell.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday at St. James Catholic Church in Le Mars. The Rev. Richard Ries will celebrate. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery in Le Mars. Visitation with the family present will be after 5 p.m. Friday with a parish rosary at 5:30 p.m., and a scriptural prayer service at 7 p.m., all at St. James Catholic Church.
