Anthony dies after accident near Salix Monday

A Le Mars man was killed when the tractor-trailer he was driving ran off the road near Salix Monday morning.

John Charles Anthony, 54, was taken to Mercy Medical Center, in Sioux City, following the 6:40 a.m. accident, according to the Iowa State Patrol.

Anthony died later from the injuries he sustained in the accident.

The accident occurred near the intersection of 280th Street and Dallas Avenue, east of Salix.

Anthony was westbound on 280th Street approaching the curve that led to the road's intersection with Dallas Avenue, the state patrol reported.

The tractor-trailer continued through the curve into the west ditch where the truck overturned and came to rest on the passenger side, trapping Anthony inside, according to the state police.

An investigation into the accident is ongoing by the Iowa State Patrol, which was assisted on scene by several agencies.

They are the Woodbury County Sheriff's Department, the Woodbury County EOC, Sloan Fire and Rescue, Salix Fire and Rescue and the Iowa Department of Natural Resources.
