Republicans have strong showing in Plymouth County

Wednesday, November 7, 2012

Plymouth County voters backed Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney with more than 66 percent support Tuesday.

Unofficial results from the Plymouth County Auditor's office show Romney had 66.42 percent of the vote compared to 32 percent for incumbent President Barack Obama.

The margin of victory was slightly greater in Plymouth County for incumbent Congressman Steve King, R-Kiron, who garnered 67 percent of the votes compared to 31 percent for Democratic opponent Christie Vilsack, of Ames.

King won re-election by defeating Vilsack, according to unofficial results from the 39 counties in the Forth Congressional district, according to The Associated Press.
