Patricia "Pat" Stofferan, 69, of Oyens, died Sunday, Nov. 4, 2012, at Mercy Medical Center in Sioux City.

Patricia Kay Van Dam was born Aug. 19, 1943, in Marcus, the daughter of Marinus and Alma (Flisker) Van Dam. She was baptized and confirmed at Holy Name Catholic Church in Marcus. She attended school in Marcus and graduated from Holy Name Catholic High School in 1962.

She was united in marriage to Gordon Riedemann on Aug. 29, 1964. To this union, two children were born, Deb and Donnie.

Pat later married Kermit Stofferan on Jan. 7, 1983, in Le Mars. Since 1985, they had made their home in Oyens.

Pat worked for several years at Aalfs Manufacturing in Le Mars and later for American Identity in Marcus until retiring in 2003.

Pat was a longtime member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Le Mars.

Through the years, she loved to fish, garden, and do word search puzzles. She also enjoyed her flowers. She will be greatly missed.

Survivors include her husband of more than 29 years, Kermit, of Oyens; her children: Deb Riedemann (Vinton Reed), of Lynch, Neb., and Donnie Riedemann (Gwen Berkenpas), of Le Mars; her stepchildren: Kris Jimenes, of Storm Lake, Chuck (Julie) Stofferan, of Marcus, Kathi Athens, of Sioux City, Kerrie (Mike) Riepma, of Struble, and Mike Stofferan, of Panora; 16 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; her siblings: Betty Oliver, of Sioux City, John (Mary) Van Dam, of Remsen, Ann (Michael W.) Tentinger, of Remsen, Barbara (Bruce) Ludwigs, of Le Mars, Nina Van Dam, of Cherokee, Nick (Teresa) Van Dam, of Remsen; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her sister, Mary Jo Van Dam; and two brothers-in-law, Larry Oliver and Alvin Singer.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Le Mars. The Rev. Kevin Richter will celebrate. Burial will follow at St. Catherine's Cemetery in Oyens. Visitation will be after 4 p.m. today (Tuesday) with a parish rosary at 5 p.m., and a vigil prayer service at 7 p.m., all at the church. Visitation will resume one hour prior to the service on Wednesday at the church. The Carlsen-Feuerstein Funeral Home in Le Mars is in charge of arrangements.
