The Hinton Blackhawks outscored Akron-Western 42-28 Friday night in the Class A football quarterfinals to earn a ticket to the state tournament for the first time in school history.
The Westerners had the early lead in the first quarter, but Hinton took control by halftime.
A-W scored first in the second half, but their efforts weren't enough to take the game away from the Blackhawks, who were playing in the school's first-ever football quarterfinal.
Hinton will next play on Friday in the UNI Dome.
They'll be facing off against Logan Magnolia, which beat its quarterfinal rival 42-14, according to Hinton coach Steve Diediker.
