Daylight saving time ends Sunday

Friday, November 2, 2012

What would you do with an extra hour of sleep?

You may find out this weekend when daylight saving time ends at 2 a.m. Sunday.

Clocks should be turned back one hour to return to standard time.

Clocks were adjusted ahead one hour to save daylight hours on March 11.

Daylight saving time is not observed in Hawaii, American Samoa, Guam, Puerto Rico, the Virgin Islands and Arizona.

The International Association of Fire Chiefs encourages families to change their smoke detector batteries when they change their clocks.

Thirty-eight percent of fire deaths occur in homes without working smoke alarms and 24 percent occur in homes in which at least one smoke alarm is present, but fails to operate, according to the fire chiefs association.
