Wednesday, October 24, 2012

HINTON -- No. 9 Hinton advanced to the Class 2A Region 2 semifinals with a 3-0 victory over Lawton-Bronson on Tuesday.

Hinton (27-4) defeated Lawton-Bronson (21-14) in straight sets by the scores of 25-12, 25-15, 26-24.

"In the first two games, we just kept it quick and (L-B) couldn't really hang," said Hinton head coach Kate Ortegren. "We were pretty balanced."

Kasey Reuter led the Blackhawks in kills with 13. Lauren Hedlund hit 10 kills and was 16-for-16 with no errors in attack attempts.

"She was very consistent for us," Ortegren said of Hedlund.

Sadie Shuck hit eight kills and two ace serves. Tori Bishop also hit two aces.

The Blackhawks hit 38 kills, but only hit five aces against the Eagles.

"Our serving, even if they weren't an ace, they got (L-B) out of system," Ortegren said. "We always served aggressive. They weren't able to set up."

Ashley Eaton made 31 assists.

Bishop made a team-high 11 digs. Reuter had 10 digs. Hedlund made two solo blocks and three assisted blocks.

Hinton will be at home again on Friday in the regional semifinal against No. 10 MVAO (29-6).
