STORM LAKE -- Sophomore Kenzie Theisen ran one of her best races of the season on Tuesday to place first in the Lakes Conference varsity girls' race in Storm Lake. Theisen took the top spot to lead Le Mars Community to second place in the meet.

Theisen ran a time of 15:05.96 amidst cold and windy conditions on Tuesday. Her best time so far this season is 14:42.

"That's great. That's right where she wants to be at this time of the year," said Le Mars second-year girls' cross country coach Adam Moss. "In these conditions, this is great. We're looking at 20 miles per hour winds. She's running really well. We're really pleased with that. She did a super job."

Le Mars saw 16 of 28 runners in the varsity and junior varsity girls' races set personal records despite the conditions. The Lady 'Dogs saw four varsity runners set personal bests during the Lakes meet and three runners earn all-conference.

Yashila Permeswaran and Ellen Meis earned all-conference honors with 13th and 14th place finishes. MicKie Theisen beat her best time by 30 seconds on Tuesday, but just missed out on all-conference with a 15th place finish.

"We ran very, very well tonight," Moss said.

Rodrigo Cobian led the Bulldogs to fifth place overall with a seventh place time of 17:31.32, a personal best, in the individual standings.

"He went out and raced," said Le Mars boys' cross country coach Al Engebretson. "The guys went out and raced tonight."

Le Mars finished with one All-Lakes Conference runner in the varsity boys' race last year, but Eli Engebretson placed 14th on Tuesday to give Le Mars two in 2012.

"We had to beat some guys we hadn't beaten this year to get all-conference," Engebretson said.

A.J. Schroeder earned 18th place as the 'Dogs third finisher in the race.
