BH-RV takes two from Le Mars JV teams

ROCK VALLEY -- Boyden-Hull/Rock Valley teams defeated the Le Mars Community sophomores and freshmen Monday night.


BH-RV 21, Le Mars 13

Le Mars sophomores converted on seven out of 11 third downs against BH-RV and converted on the Bulldogs' only fourth down of the game, but the Bulldogs fell one score short.

Le Mars opened the scoring in the first quarter on a 48-yard touchdown pass from Trevor Westhoff to Tyler Borchers. Judd Bagstad kicked the extra point for an early 7-0 lead.

BH-RV scored the next 21 points to take a 21-7 lead.

Le Mars scored once more before halftime on a 27-yard touchdown pass from Westhoff to Logan Schneider. The Bulldogs failed on the extra point and neither team scored again.

Westhoff was 8-for-18 passing for 136 yards, two touchdowns and two interceptions. Schneider caught two passes for 79 yards. Borchers had five receptions for 57 yards.

Matt Ellefson led Le Mars in rushing with 43 yards on seven carries. Beau Ohm rushed for 25 yards on eight rushing attempts.

Ohm led the defense with six solo tackles and six assisted tackles. Ohm and Jacob Reidemann each made 1.5 tackles behind the line of scrimmage.

Ellefson made four solo stops and four assisted tackles. Borchers finished with three solo tackles and assisted on three more.


BH-RV 20, Le Mars 0

The Le Mars freshman team was held to 125 total yards in a shutout defeat against BH-RV on Monday. The Bulldogs were 0-for-7 on third downs and failed on the team's only fourth down.

BH-RV gained 254 total yards and converted on seven out of a combined 14 third and fourth downs.

Cody Beck ran four times for 43 yards. Mason Wichers carried twice for 18 yards. The Bulldogs were held to 73 rushing yards on 20 rushing attempts.

Tyler Pauley caught the team's only three completed passes for 52 yards. Pauley also made eight tackles on defense.


Humboldt 28, Le Mars 0

Le Mars freshmen were also shut out last Friday by Humboldt.

Humboldt scored once in each quarter and held the Bulldogs to 58 yards of total offense.

Quarterback Preston Vore was 1-for-4 passing for eight yards, but was held to -13 yards on 11 carries.

Mason Wichers ran twice for 26 yards. Trevor Mullally carried twice for 26 yards.

Pauley led the defense with five tackles. Denton Ohlrichs made three solo tackles and assisted on another. Beck recorded a sack against Humboldt.

The Le Mars junior varsity teams will be at home next Monday against Spencer.
