Jim and Kay Bogenrief

Jim and Kay Bogenrief, of rural Merrill, observed their 70th wedding anniversary Sept. 19, 2012. The couple celebrated with a family dinner. They will also help Merrill Melbourne United Methodist Church celebrate its Heritage Sunday during the 9:15 a.m. worship service Sept. 23.

Jim Bogenrief and the former Kay Becker were married Sept. 19, 1942, at Hildreth Evangelical Chapel at Westmar College in Le Mars.

They have three children: Richard Bogenrief and family from Merrill; Kathy and husband, Dave Moore, of Le Mars; and David and wife, Margarete, in mission church work in Jerusalem, Israel. They have four grandchildren: Lara, Ben, Abby, and Erica, and two great-grandchildren, Dana and Stephen.

Kay is a retired music teacher who taught at Merrill with the Le Mars Community School District. Jim is retired from ASCS and served in the U.S. Army.

Both Jim and Kay have worked with the Melbourne United Methodist Church in service and music. Jim played in the Le Mars Municipal Band for 62 years.

The couple lives on their century farm at rural Merrill.
