Laura Mack, 95, of The Woodlands, Texas, and a Merrill area native, died Monday, Aug. 27, 2012, after a brief illness.
Laurabel Kehrberg Mack was born May 31, 1917, on the family farm east of Merrill. She was the daughter of George and Leah (Schrooten) Kehrberg. Laura attended country school and graduated from Merrill High School in 1934. She then attended Western Union College in Le Mars.
Laura worked in Omaha, Neb., where she met and married Delbert O. Mack of Winner, S.D. After living in Omaha for many years, the couple and their two children relocated to Lubbock, Texas before finally settling in Bedford, Texas, where they made their home for more than 20 years.
Laura was a long-time employee of the Ft. Worth law firm of Johnson, Johnson, and Rothfelder and worked there until her retirement.
After Delbert's death in 1991, Laura continued to live in Bedford until 2008 when she moved to The Woodlands, Texas, to be closer to her children.
Laura will be lovingly remembered by her daughter, Lori Meyer, of The Woodlands, Texas, and her son, Steve Mack, and his wife, Monica, of Houston, Texas. Her great joy were her two grandchildren, Lauren Meyer, of New York, N.Y., and Eliot Meyer of Chapel Hill, N.C. Other survivors include her four nieces and nephews: Karen Cornwell, Gail West, Mary Beth Kehrberg, and Bob Kehrberg, as well as many friends.
Laura was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Delbert; her brother, Lowell Kehrberg and his wife, Ruth, and sister, Wilma West, and her husband Fletcher.
As per Laura's wishes, there will be no services.
