Dale C. Mowbray, 89, of Gainesville, Ga., died Saturday, July 21, 2012, in his sleep at his home.
Dale C. Mowbray was born Oct. 30, 1922, in Vinton, the youngest of the children. There were two sisters and one older brother.
Dale graduated from Iowa State University with a degree in veterinary medicine. He practiced for one year in Grundy Center. It was there that he met Grace E. Simons, who was teaching in Grundy Center. A year later, he entered the U.S. Army as a first lieutenant.
Grace and Dale were married June 8, 1947.
He served many places, including Germany, Korea and the Netherlands, totally over 28 years.
After retiring, he and Grace moved back to the United States and made their home in Georgia. He learned the practice of air conditioning and heating homes and worked at this while Grace taught school.
Survivors include his children, sons, David, Alan and Glen, and daughter Margaret Beville, and their families; seven grandchildren, Karen Martin, Diana Agustasson, Bradley Mowbray, Eric Mowbray, Christopher Mowbray, Flona Mowbray and Mariah Mowbray; great-grandchildren, Garrett and Laura Grace Martin, Andor and Elinor Agustasson, and Holly Mowbray; and a sister-in-law, Helen L. Kehrberg, of Sioux City.
The family continues to mourn the death of Grace Mowbray on May 27, 2012.
The memorial service was held July 31, at Lanier Village Estates Chapel.
