PAULLINA -- The Hinton Blackhawks used strong serving to win 3-0 over South O'Brien in War Eagle Conference volleyball action Tuesday.
Hinton (1-0) won all three sets 25-8, 25-9, 25-15.
The Blackhawks made 19 ace serves as a team against South O'Brien (1-3).
Junior Kasey Reuter had eight aces in the match. Senior Ashley Eaton and Ali Kallsen had five aces apiece.
"Serving was definitely what helped us out tonight," Ortegren said. "We served aggressively. If we weren't getting ace serves, we were at least getting their offense out of system. So they weren't able to run their offense as well."
Senior Sadie Shuck led Hinton in kills with 11. Juniors Lauren Hedlund and Tori Bishop each made five kills. Reuter added five kills.
Hedlund led Hinton in digs with seven. Reuter also made six digs. Reuter had two solo blocks and one assisted. Shuck made two solo blocks.
Hinton will travel to Sheldon to compete in a tournament on Saturday.
