Bouma named offensive MVP for North in Shrine Bowl

AMES -- Gehlen Catholic graduate Trevor Bouma was named the offensive MVP for the North squad in Saturday's Iowa Shrine Bowl at Jack Trice Stadium.

Bouma ran for 112 yards on 20 rushes and had two receptions for 20 yards in the annual all-star football game.

Bouma has committed to play football at the University of South Dakota.

The South squad dominated the game and won 40-7. The North now leads in the series just 20-19. The South scored 30 consecutive points in the second half.

The Iowa Shrine Bowl game wll move to the UNI-Dome in Cedar Falls next year on Saturday, July 27, 2013. This year's game was the 40th in the series and the 12th straight at Jack Trice Stadium.

A new NCAA rule prohibits FBS schools from hosting all-star games.

The Iowa Shrine Bowl is presented by the four Shrine Centers in Iowa (Abu Bekr Shriners -- Sioux City, El Kahir Shriners -- Cedar Rapids, Kaaba Shriners -- Davenport and Za-Ga-Zig Shriners -- Altoona) and is a major fundraiser for the Shriners Hospital for Children.
