Chamber sets date for next cash mob

Thursday, July 12, 2012

The Le Mars Area Chamber of Commerce has announced plans for a Cash Mob at noon Tuesday, July 31.

A cash mob is a gathering of people who have each agreed to spend at least $20 in whatever business is drawn at random.

The targeted business on July 31 will be a Chamber-member retail business located outside downtown Le Mars, according to a press release from the Chamber.

People who want to be part of the next cash mob may meet at the Chamber office, 50 Central Ave. S.E. before noon July 31.

The first cash mob was June 21 at Rust Western Shed, a Chamber-member retail business in downtown Le Mars.

A group of 60 shoppers spent more than $1,000 at the business in half an hour, the Chamber reported.

The third cash mob will be picked from Chamber-member downtown restaurants, while the fourth will be restaurants outside of downtown.

Cash mob plans are announced monthly by the Chamber through the media.
